Aarakshan movie screening demanded by NCSC before release – Trailer

Aarakshan, Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Prateik Babbar, Deepika Padukone, Manoj Bajpayee
In Bollywood, it has become a trend that movies have to get a threat from an external body before its release. Mostly the issues are regarding the subject matter of the movies – either the public has become sensitive, or the filmmakers these days are daring to touch sensitive issues.

Upcoming movie ‘Aarakshan’ too is facing similar turmoil from the National Commission for Scheduled Castes. The members of the commission have demanded a screening of the movie before the movie hits theaters.

As the director Prakash Jha has touched the subject of caste reservations in the movie, the NCSC members want to make sure that the movie does not offend or misrepresent the laws on the reservation. However, the director has reportedly refused to give in to the demands of the commission.

Jha has said that he is not obligated to show the movie to any other external body other than the Censor Board. At the same time, the director also said that in case the board directs him to show the movie to another body, then it would be in their power.

Aarakshan is all set to be released on 12th August 2011 and stars Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Prateik Babbar, Deepika Padukone and Manoj Bajpayee.

Case against Amitabh Bachchan for his dialogue in Aarakshan

Mega star Amitabh Bachchan landed in controversy for his dialogue in the film 'Aarakshan' to be released on August 12, in which he appeared to be raising a point against reservation saying he always believed in merit, not in reservation.

A senior advocate Abhishek Chaudhary filed complaint case against Mr Bachchan and producer of the film Prakash Jha in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ramakant Yadav.

In his complaint case, Mr Chaudhary had alleged that Mr Bachchan had uttered a dialogue in the film which intended for satirical remark about reservation policy of the government.

''I believe in merit, not in reservation'', Mr Bachchan had uttered the dialogue in the film, said Mr Chaudhary and added that such remark had hurt the sentiment of those enjoying facilities through reservation policy of the government.

Big B shoots with Sridevi for Gauri Shinde's film English Vinglish

Amitabh Bachchan, Sridevi
By now its common knowledge that yesteryears' diva Sridevi is making her big screen comeback with a film directed by Gauri Shinde (wife of director R.Balki). The film titled English Vinglish has Sridevi playing the role of a housewife, who in order to please her husband and family, enrolls for an English speaking course.

While the actress has begun shooting for the film couple of weeks ago, she was yesterday joined on the sets by none other than Amitabh Bachchan. Big B incidentally has a cameo in the film and shot with Sridevi yesterday after a gap of nearly 18 years when they last shared screen space in Khuda Gawah.

In the film, Big B plays the role of a fellow passenger who meets Sridevi on board a flight. Bachchan even tweeted about it last night, "Shooting today with the effervescent SriDevi after eternity almost for R Balki's wife's directed film 'English Vinglish'...SriDevi still the same … spontaneous and lovely ..!!"

Besides the scene with Big B, Sridevi also shot a few dance steps with ace choreographer Ganesh Hegde.

Karan Johar plans Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham sequel...

A sequel to the 2001 blockbuster starring Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan is in the pipeline, confirms Karan Johar

Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham 2, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan,Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena KapoorTen years after its release the multistarrer blockbuster Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham, finally gears up for a sequel.

Though Amitabh Bachchan had been blogging about the possibility of a venture that takes the travails of the Raichand family forward, for some time now, director and producer Karan Johar confirmed to Mumbai Mirror that he would indeed like to recreate the magic of K3G, soon.

Admitting to the fact that K3G 2 is indeed in the pipeline, Karan said, "It's a workable idea. I am no longer averse to it. It would be a bold step if I make it."

Also, the fact that the six key cast members of the film - Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor are all gung-ho about the sequel makes the project a certainty.

"It's very strange. But all the six main members of the cast are as dear to me now as they were 10 years ago when I made the film. I'm sure they're as charged about the sequel as I am," said Karan, who had already revealed his plans about the sequel to the concerned members of the cast.

In fact, the seed of the idea for a sequel was planted by one of them.

"At first, when his friends suggested a sequel, KJo just laughed it off saying that it was financially impractical to attempt something so big in this day and age.

However, Big B made him realise that a sequel was not only possible but also desirable. Mr Bachchan also said that only Karan could pull it off," informed a source.

Talking about the sequel, Big B even revealed on his blog, "It would be a story on the growth of the brothers and the problems that arise because of their independent understanding and working of the business empire of the father, a split within them and so on..."

The recent success of sequels added to Karan's conviction. With the Golmaal, Dhamaal and Murder franchises doing better than most first time films this year, the idea for a multistarrer sequel gained ground.

With Dostana 2 failing to take off, a sequel to the Raichand family saga might be what Dharma Productions needs to join the trend.

Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001 was nominated across fifteen categories at the Filmfare Awards.

It won five, making this one of the 'tallest family films' by Dharma Productions. And if all goes well, we may soon be seeing the Raichands repeat their success on screen, ten years after they first made an appearance.

Heart goes out to Mumbai blast victims: Big B

New Delhi, July 14 : Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has sympathized with the families of the victims of the serial blasts that rocked Mumbai on Wednesday, terming them a "dark night" for the city and a "dark moment" for the nation.

Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood Gossips, Mumbai Bomb Blasts
"Another dark night in the city of Mumbai and another dark moment for the nation. Blasts in three of the most congested areas of the city; have been devastated by IEDs, improvised explosive devices, causing deaths to many and injured into hundreds..," Amitabh posted late Wednesday on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

Big B said his family's hearts go out to those affected.

"Many of our friends and well wishers have been sending in messages of concern to us. We are all safe, but our hearts go out to the families of those that have lost their lives and have been injured," he said.

"Yet again our city of Mumbai has been made the target of a brutal attack. Once again there shall be concerned voices raised by those in authority. Once again Mumbai will show its resilience and get back to work as rapidly as possible," he added.

The 68-year-old criticized people who try to "capitalise" on such incidents.

"Once again TV channels shall give exclusive reports from the site of the action, claiming, how they were the first to bring this tragedy to your doorstep. At the end of the day, even when you are fighting an adversary, the desire, by certain forces to capitalize on the situation does not change," he said.

Bachchan was upset with the way how everytime the city came under attack, it was soon "forgotten".

"And it does leave a very bad taste in the mouth. Once again the city shall limp back to normalcy and in a few months the incident will be forgotten. Fresh and more inventive topics shall rule the roost," he added.

The Bachchan family was in Delhi to attend a ceremony where Amitabh's daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was to be conferred with top French honour "Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters". However, after the news of the blast, that killed at least 17 people and injured 131, they chose to postpone the event.

Big B is 'stunning actor and gentleman,' says King Khan

Toronto, June 26 : For King Khan, Big B is still the super star of Bollywood.

Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Bollywood Gossips
Asked about his super status at a press conference here, Shah Rukh Khan said the credit for his success should be given to "people who work behind scenes".

It would be wrong for him to claim the whole credit for his current status, said King Khan.

The super star said Big B remains "the most stunning actor and a gentleman".

About his long absences from the IIFA Awards, he said: "I know a lot of people make a thing of the seven years that I have not been at IIFA ...it has no personal angst to it. It is just that it falls during the summer holidays for my young kids.''

Shah Rukh Khan said the media has created a myth that film stars are petty-minded people who get together under one roof at awards ceremonies.

When a Star TV reporter asked why Bollywood stars don't show up together at major awards ceremonies, King Khan said: "That's no big deal. Any star who has the time, comes. Yeh apke damage main hai ke actors/actresses ek chhat ke niche naahi aana pasand karte. Achhi baat yeh hai ke sab masroof hain aur masroofiat se aa nahi sakte. Otherwise none of us has any issues."

Turning to the reporter, the Bollywood super star said: "I actually don't understand your question. We all have been under one roof many times and we are very proud of all the award functions, IIFA specially, around the world. Whenever we are called, we attend."

Further, King Khan angrily said: "Your channel said (some time ago) that I am not going to a function because Mr Bachchan is there. That's not true. That's rubbish. But we cannot question your rubbish...(like that) we are so small-minded...All of us come together whenever we have the time to perform, especially when we go to present our best face internationally, like here in Toronto."

Big B borrows Prakash Jha's look for 'Aarakshan'

By Subhash K. Jha ,Mumbai, June 20 : For "Aarakshan" we first heard about Amitabh Bachchan borrowing the exact cut of Prakash Jha's beard and hair for his character. It now turns out the megastar borrowed not just his facial look but also the clothes to play the college professor.

Amitabh Bachchan,Aarakshan,Bollywood Gossips
"Nothing as drastic as that. But yes, Amitji did decide to model his character on me in every detail, including the clothes. I am quite flattered because I've never paid attention to what I wear or how I look. So if Amitji saw our hero's character in me, I must be doing something right," said Jha, who is delving into the reservation issue in the film.

Apparently, Big B even insisted on borrowing some accessories from Jha's wardrobe.

"It was really interesting when Mr. Bachchan, Prakashji and I were discussing his look when Mr. Bachchan looked at Prakashji, points to him and says, 'That's it. That's Prabhakar Anand.'," said dress designer Priyanka Mundada.

Amitabh said: "We jointly agreed on that!"

Big B is perfect for playing the character of MF Hussain in titled ‘Hussain – The Painter’!

M.F.Hussain,Amitabh Bachchan,Hussain – The Painter
Small budget movie maker, Prabhakar Shukla is in high hopes to make a movie on the legendary late MF Hussain’s life. On the other hand he could not express his desire as the magnificent artist died in London on Thursday night. Prabhakar Shukla has determined to have a talk with the Shehensha of bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan about this project as he wants the superstar actor to play the role of MF Hussain in his movie project titled ‘Hussain – The Painter’.
According to the director, Amitabh Bachchan had been great friends with MF Hussain over the past many years and even feels that the well-known actor would know a lot about Hussain’s life style and interests. As per Shukla, Amitabh Bachchan will perfectly fit the role and would do complete justice to his character. Anyways the script of the movie hasn’t yet been finalized and Prabhakar Shukla is yet to approach the star. If reports are to be believed then Shukla has already signed a producer for his big project movie.
It would be pretty motivating to see how the life of the great painter MF Hussain will be portrayed on screen as the whole world knows that the magical painter lived his life with pure dignity and no one could match his stature.

Imran Khan says. People can vote and marry at 18…why drink at age of 25

Imran Khan,Amitabh Bachchan,Bollywood Gossips,Alcohol
The new law increasing the alcohol consumption age to 25 in Maharashtra, is not being favored by many Bollywood stars. Actor Imran Khan appears to have taken it upon himself to file a PIL against the new ruling.
Presently, media is abuzz that the ‘Delhi Belly’ hero Imran Khan feels that raising of the drinking age to 25 in Maharashtra is utterly unfair, as when people can vote and marry at 18 and have kids at 21, then why can’t they chose to drink or not to drink at an early age.
Imran Khan,Amitabh Bachchan,Bollywood Gossips,Alcohol
Imran tells he doesn’t endorse nor wish to promote drinking among youth. But what he’s concerned about is the right of freedom to choose for the youngsters who are mature enough to take important decisions like marriage.
Imran’s call to action has his I Hate Luv Storys co-star Sonam Kapoor saying cheers as well.
“If you can vote, get married, have children, drive a car… why on earth can’t you drink? It’s ridiculous we are not living in the dark ages,” told Sonam.
Amitabh Bachchan wrote in his social networking blog: “On drinking age limit increased to 25 ! Err .. old and mature enough to vote for the country, or join army ..and fight for the nation…but not old and mature enough to be told when you are allowed to drink ???? Strange ?!!!! (sic) .”
Many other Bollywood celebrities have also spoken against the ruling.
